SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY SPACES
TAYLOR HOUSE
Albemarle, NC
Brief: To renovate and refresh the corridors, common areas, and lobby of a 1930s hospital converted into an assisted living community, creating a warm and welcoming environment with improved way-finding, comfort, and cohesive design across two residential floors.
Design Solution: This assisted living renovation revitalized the original lobby, corridors, and shared common spaces across two floors, blending timeless architectural character with updated finishes and furnishings. New carpet throughout the corridors and common areas introduced warmth and comfort, while decorative pilasters at resident doors added architectural detail and visual rhythm along the hallways. Updated lighting, furniture, and curated artwork enhanced the overall atmosphere, creating inviting spaces for residents and visitors alike. Each floor was designed with its own cohesive color palette and coordinating resident door schemes to support intuitive wayfinding and provide residents with a stronger sense of identity and place. The refreshed interiors honor the building’s historic roots while creating a more comfortable and welcoming assisted living environment.
